After the scope of work has been accepted and approved.  The next step is to start the containing and removing of the mold and make sure it stops growing instantly. The Mold Guy’s use an advanced containment procedures are utilized to keep the mold from spreading. These procedures may include the creation of negative air chambers as well as the use of negative air pressure during the cleanup process. We also treat with all of the appropriate chemicals to fully clean and sanitize the area.

Depending on where the mold is located preventing the mold from spreading may also require that some fans and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems remain off until the cleaning process is complete. Your specialist will let know know when they arrive.

One major reason that mold can be harmful is that it can release pathogens into the air that we breath. So step 3 is making sure that those harmful byproducts are removed.

Once the cleaning and containing process is complete, specialized air filtration equipment is used to remove any microscopic mold spores that remain in the air. Furthermore, as the air is being filtered, our experts use powerful high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) vacuums and ‘air scrubbers’ to ensure mold spores are captured.  When we’re done it is like your house is back to it’s normal self.

While there are times that the mold can be removed and cleaned using professional cleaners and anti-fungal sanitizers, many times during the cleaning process we find that some materials need to be removed entirely. Your specialist will keep you informed and this is something that will be determined in Step One.

Every job is different and the amount of mold that is present and the surfaces that are affected determine the steps our experts take during your mold abatement process. For example, mold-infested carpeting must be removed and then disposed of properly. Antimicrobial and anti-fungal treatments may be necessary to prevent the formation of new mold colonies and to remove mold colonies that already exist.
